Jordan Hudson #2 of the Southern Methodist University Mustangs celebrates a touchdown against the Louisville Cardinals.
The Houston Texans enter the 2026 offseason with few true roster needs. At this time of year, teams are gathering as much information as possible on potential targets, and the Texans have a leg up with Jordan Hudson.
Houston is not exactly wanting for wide receivers heading into the offseason.
However, Hudson could bring a skill that the team generally lacked on the perimeter during the 2025 season.
Texans Met With SMU’s Jordan Hudson

Hudson is a local product. So, the Texans have gotten a closer look at the 6-foot-1, 200-pound former TCU transfer and Garland native. Hudson revealed speaking with the Texans at the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl.
“It’s a couple teams,” Hudson told KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson in comments shared on February 20. “The Eagles, Green Bay, Houston; just a couple to throw out. But, man, just great feedback from those guys. The Raiders, just, they liked how honest I was and how open I was with them. So, just this minor stuff.”
Hudson described himself as “explosive,” noting his ability to track the ball and be “dominant” on the football field and saying he is an “all-around” receiver who can “do it all.”
Hudson finished his collegiate career with 144 receptions for 1,787 yards and 21 touchdowns.
He would join a receiver room that lacked consistent separation this past season, with Tank Dell injured and rookie Jaylin Noel moonlighting as a returner. Wilson noted in a follow-up article on February 22 that Hudson heads to the combine with “momentum” after the Senior Bowl.
Hudson, who has been training with renowned personal coach Justin Allen, is “regarded as a rising draft prospect,” per Wilson.
Jordan Hudson a Sneaky Fit in Houston

Hudson might not be at the top of the Texans’ draft board. However, with questions behind top option Nico Collins and WR2 Jayden Higgins, it would not hurt the Texans to add Hudson to the roster to mix in with Noel and Xavier Hutchinson, especially later in the draft.
Hudson is recovering from an elbow injury and admitted he is not up to full speed just yet. He will catch some passes at the combine, but believes he can still improve on his 4.4 40-time.
Hudson said that he will run at SMU’s Pro Day, which has yet to get an official date.
“Jordan Hudson, a former TCU transfer, registered a career-high 766 receiving yards this past season,” The Draft Network’s Justin Melo wrote in January. “Hudson has enough short-area quickness to create separation, and he pairs it with run-after-catch ability.”
Texans ‘Hot Topic’ Looms Large
GettyC.J. Stroud #7 of the Houston Texans warms up before the AFC Divisional Playoffs against the New England Patriots.
The Athletic’s Mike Jones noted that quarterback C.J. Stroud’s future is the “hot topic” for the Texans heading into the offseason, despite their more pressing roster needs.
Stroud is extension-eligible, but also coming off an admittedly poor postseason showing. The Texans will need to address their offensive line after mixing and matching the group during the season and facing multiple pending free agents.
Still, adding a player like Hudson would also qualify as bolstering Stroud’s supporting cast.
