Garrison ISD hires former state champion as athletic director, head football coach

GARRISON, Texas (KTRE) – Garrison ISD announced Monday night the hiring of Kerry Therwhanger as its new athletic director and head football coach.

Therwhanger takes over for Brandon Alvarez, who left to join his father, Jack, at Center in January.

Therwhanger was the Timpson Bears’ head coach when they won the 2A Division I state championship in 2023. He has a record of 185-83 in 22 years as a head coach.
