Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, continue to thrive during the offseason.
After suffering an ACL and MCL tear in Week 15, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is working hard to get back to full health.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters that Mahomes spends the bulk of his time at the team’s training center. “Seven hours a day. He’s in there cranking away, making progress every day. It’s great to see,” Reid said. The 30-year-old quarterback works closely with Julie Frymyer, the Chiefs’ assistant trainer and physical therapist.
Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, are also working hard as co-owners of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current.

After the Current’s extraordinary 2025 season ended in heartbreak, they hired a new head coach, Chris Armas, and pulled the trigger on two blockbuster moves to reshape the roster. And on February 23, ESPN made a major announcement regarding the Mahomes’ NWSL team.
The KC Current Team Stars in ESPN’s Newest Original Series, ‘NWSL: The Final Third’
ESPN announced that the Current, along with the Washington Spirit and Angel City FC, will be the focus of their new original series, “NWSL: The Final Third.”
The three-episode series, produced by Words + Pictures, Omaha Productions, and ESPN, premieres on the ESPN app on February 25 and ESPN2 on March 2. The series will also be available to stream on Disney+ from March 2 through March 31.
“From action on the pitch to strategic competition in the boardroom, NWSL: The Final Third offers an intimate look at intense rivalries, unforgettable personalities, and the pressure that defines elite competition in a rapidly evolving league,” the press release read.
The Current were not only the fastest team to win the NWSL Shield, but they also broke several league records. They scored the most points (65), recorded the most wins (21), most shutouts (16), multi-goal wins (15), and more. As the No. 1 seed, they were considered the runaway favorite to win the NWSL championship, but they lost to Gotham FC (No. 8) in the quarterfinals.
This marks the second time the team will be featured in prime time, as the Current’s 2024 season was chronicled in Amazon Prime’s “For the Win: NWSL.”

While this season didn’t end with a championship title, the future remains brighter than ever in Kansas City. Four years after the Current played their first game of the 2021 season, they’ve become the second-most valuable franchise in the NWSL. Despite being the fourth-smallest market team, the Current owns the second-highest valuation of $275 million.
After opening CPKC Stadium, the first premier sports venue built primarily for a women’s sports team, Forbes reported that the KC Current generated a league-high $36 million in revenue in 2024.
Last summer, owners Chris and Angie Long announced a $52 million investment in a three-tiered expansion of the team’s facilities in Riverside, Missouri. They broke ground in July on building Riverside Stadium, a 35,000-square-foot performance center, and a pitch expansion.
