INDIANAPOLIS — If there is one Cowboys’ player in need of an injury-free year, it’s linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.

The former third-round pick from Texas has undergone surgeries to both knees and played in just 19 games out of a possible 51.

Overshown enters a contract year looking to impress another defensive coordinator, this time Christian Parker, going into the 2026 season. With the Cowboys going with a base 3-4 defense for this season, it seems Overshown will get plenty of looks at one of the inside linebacker spots due to his ability to make plays in space.

“The biggest thing is that availability. Certainly, no one wants to play the game more than him; I can assure you of that,” Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones said Monday from the NFL scouting combine. “Obviously, he needs to put together a full season, and if he does, I think it will be a great season.”

In two seasons, Overshown has 118 tackles, five sacks, nine tackles for loss, eight of which in 2024, and he has a pick six.

The potential is there for Overshown and the Cowboys want to see him fulfill it.

“I know how good he is and what he could do for us and fired up about what he brings to the table,” Jones said. “The only question mark he has is his injury issues that he’s had, getting through a full year.”
