National college football reporter Chris Hummer surveyed dozens of front-office staffers across the sport for their favorite under-the-radar players in the 2026 transfer portal. He highlighted four names every fan should know ahead of the 2026 season.

Nearly 3,000 FBS scholarship players entered the portal this offseason — and that number swells to more than 5,000 when including FCS transfers.

With the stipulation that under-the-radar transfers had to be ranked as three-star prospects or lower, Hummer uncovered several players, even several from the Division II ranks, who are poised to make real contributions at Power Four programs this fall. Ohio State and Florida are among the teams that landed one of these hidden gems this offseason.
