WASHINGTON(7News) — The Washington Commanders have many important decisions to make over the next couple of months.

None might be bigger than trying to sign left tackle Laremy Tunsil to a contract extension.

Tunsil is entering the final year of his contract. Remember, Washington traded for Tunsil during the 2025 offseason.

This past season, Tunsil started all 14 games he played for the Commanders.

General Manager Adam Peters said on Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine that locking down a new deal for Tunsil is one of the team’s priorities.

“It’s really important for us,” Peters said. “We’ve been having good and productive talks with Laremy and his team. We’re as motivated as ever to get that done . I don’t think either side wants to drag it on, but I don’t think the league year is gonna be a deadline of sorts.”

Commanders fans are hoping Peters can learn from last year’s negotiations with wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Those talks dragged on for months and into training camp.
