The Philadelphia Eagles will have to make a decision on tight end Dallas Goedert’s future, as the veteran is set to hit free agency in the coming weeks.
If Goedert hits the market, he will have plenty of suitors. However, it sounds like the Eagles have no plans to let the productive playmaker find a new home.
During a press conference at the NFL combine on Tuesday, Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman said the franchise will speak to Goedert’s agent in the coming days and finalize a new contract.
“Tremendous player and person for the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m really glad we were able to figure it out and bring him back to Philadelphia this year (2025) and for this season and tremendously productive for us. Just a huge asset for our offense to have him on our football team. Again, we got to put the whole puzzle together. And so to sit here, we got a lot of other free agents too and say, ‘Hey, we’re definitely going to get this guy back…’ When we get this late, obviously the market dictates a lot of that as well, but we’ll certainly sit down with his agent here over the next couple of days and have a conversation. Very appreciative of Dallas Goedert,” Roseman said via Dave Zangaro of NBC Philly.
Bringing back Goedert is a no-brainer move for the Eagles. The 31-year-old tallied a career-high 11 receiving touchdowns in 2025 and continues to be a reliable playmaker for quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Philadelphia working to re-sign Goedert is dejecting news for teams in need of a tight end, including the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and New York Giants.
Denver could be looking for an upgrade over Evan Engram at tight end, and Goedert would fit that mold. The South Dakota State product would be a savvy security blanket and red-zone threat for quarterback Bo Nix.
Both Los Angeles and New York have young tight ends who posted promising rookie campaigns, Oronde Gadsden II for the Chargers and Theo Johnson for the Giants. However, both franchises could also be a fit for Goedert in two-tight-end sets.
It’s looking more and more likely that Goedert will remain with the Eagles in 2026, so the Broncos, Chargers, and Giants will have to evaluate other options at tight end.
