The Baltimore Ravens recently hired first-time play caller Declan Doyle as their offensive coordinator under new head coach Jesse Minter. When asked what he thinks of Doyle, general manager Eric DeCosta didn’t hold back.
“He’s smart, has great vision and is a good communicator. I had the chance to interview him over Zoom at the Senior Bowl and also in person in Baltimore. He’s driven [and] I think relentlessly committed to his vision for what his offense is going to look like. I think he’s going to work well with the players. I think he’s going to be exciting.”
Doyle may be new to calling plays at the NFL level, but the Ravens clearly see someone ready to make an immediate impact. Between his vision, communication skills, and drive, he fits the team’s culture perfectly. If his work with the players matches DeCosta’s high expectations, Baltimore fans are in for an offense that’s both smart and exciting.
