Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had an NFL combine to remember in 2000.
The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine is underway, where the Patriots will get the opportunity to evaluate top prospects in this year’s draft class. The combine produces historic moments across several events, such as the 40-yard dash.

All eyes will be on prospects, such as Clemson edge rusher T.J. Parker, Miami edge rusher Ahkeem Mesidor, as well as Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor, who all have the potential to be on the board when the Patriots select for the first time with the No. 31 overall pick. However, performances draw comparisons to past players’ results in drills at the combine.
Brady ran the 40-yard dash in 5.28 seconds. He ran the second-slowest 40 among all non-offensive or defensive linemen. His 40 was slower than 300-plus pound players, like Florida offensive guard Cooper Carlisle (5.16s), as well as Iowa State defensive tackle Robert Brannon (5.19s).
Brady also recorded a 24.5-inch vertical, as well as a broad jump of 8 feet, 3 inches. He did the 3-cone drill in 7.20 seconds, as well as the shuttle run in 4.38 seconds.

Brady ended up getting drafted by the Patriots with the No. 199 overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. He led New England to six Super Bowl wins in his 20-year tenure with the team. Brady finished his career with seven championships.
