The Penn State Nittany Lions QB is in the 2026 NFL Draft class of quarterbacks, and he has chosen to throw at the NFL Combine.

For Allar, it’s a chance to reclaim some of his reputation.

Allar was viewed as a first-round quarterback before the 2025 college football season.

Then he and Penn State struggled, and then Allar got hurt, and that was that.

Now, Allar’s draft value is quite the mystery, but he’s done something right here.

By choosing to throw at the combine, Allar can raise his own value. Fernando Mendoza isn’t throwing and will almost certainly go No. 1 overall to the Raiders. After that, though, there’s room for players to move up the board.

QB2 right now is Alabama’s Ty Simpson, but he had just one year as a starter and isn’t a sure thing.

Allar wasn’t perfect, but there were reasons that people believed in him in the first place.

That’s long-time NFL backup quarterback Chase Daniel with the positive take on Allar. He likely won’t be the only one.

It was easy to forget about Allar as other QBs shone at the end of the year.

But in draft prep, Allar should grab attention again. Maybe, just maybe, he can play himself back near the top of the non-Mendoza quarterback rankings.
