Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman addressed trade speculation surrounding A.J. Brown.

The Eagles are reportedly entertaining offers for Brown, and the Patriots are a betting favorite to acquire the star wide receiver. However, Roseman pumped the brakes on wanting to move Brown when speaking to CBS Sports at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday.

“We’re in the business of keeping great players, and A.J. is a great player,” Roseman said. “A.J. is a difference-making player for our team. He’s been on our team four years. We’ve been to the playoffs all four of those years. Won a Super Bowl. Been in two Super Bowls, and he’s a captain on our team. You’re not looking to get rid of players like that.”

Roseman is more focused on improving his roster after a disappointing first-round playoff exit to the San Francisco 49ers. Trading a perennial 1,000-yard receiver is unlikely to help the Eagles get back to the Super Bowl next season.

With that said, Roseman considers it his job to explore all possibilities. He won’t hang up if Eliot Wolf or anyone else calls about the three-time Pro Bowler.

“We got to listen on anyone,” Roseman said. “And that doesn’t have anything to do with A.J. If anyone calls me and says, ‘Hey, I want to talk to you about a player,’ for me just to say unequivocally, ‘I’m not taking your call,’ that doesn’t make sense. Because I don’t know what they’re going to say on the other end.

“Now, the chances that I’m doing that with a great player, they’re not very high.”
