Cade Otton has been the subject of speculation across the NFL in regards to where the tight end will end up after his free agency takes effect in coming weeks. Whether he stays with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or goes to another team scouting him – perhaps the Eagles, Lions, Raiders, or another franchise – is all up in the air as Otton’s commitment decision about his future in professional football nears.

Having posted a cryptic Instagram post of himself in his Bucs jersey with his back turned to the camera as though he’s walking away from Tampa Bay, Otton has released another update during the offseason that is deeply emotional and pivotal to his life. Here’s what to know about how that announcement intersects with growing speculation about his future with the Bucs as free agency grows closer.

The Tight End Made a Personal Announcement During Bucs, NFL Offseason

In the midst of a pivotal offseason for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cade Otton – who is one of the team’s most reliable contributors to the offense at tight end – posted not only the cryptic social media post about the rest of his year with the Bucs and beyond, but also a deeply personal photo and caption to announce the birth of his second child, and first son, with wife Sierra Otton.

The announcement made by the tight end includes the caption, “Boys are up 1! Amos Becker Otton made Teni a big sister.” In the picture, the family of four is seen smiling as the new big sister gives her newborn baby brother a kiss. Even the family’s dog looks exciting in the snapshot shared by the Ottons!

The photo reel on Cade Otton’s post goes on to show the TE engaging in skin-to-skin contact with his newborn son, which is a highly personal moment shared between father and baby when an infant is first born.

At the same time Cade Otton is celebrating the birth of his son with his family, speculation has reached a crescendo around his NFL free agency prospects. Otton is slated to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins in March, and his name has already appeared on several recently released lists projecting free agents and their potential value. In a ranking of top impending free agents released by the NFL, Otton was listed among the elite 2026 free agents. On the list, the TE is ranked 18 out of 100 top professional football players hitting the open market next month.

Otton’s 2025 season was one of his most productive as he logged nearly 1,000 offensive snaps, hauled in 59 receptions for 572 yards, and demonstrated versatility that’s coveted in both blocking and receiving schemes. This makes him a highly sought-after player in the league, and only time will tell where Cade, Sierra, big sister Teni, and newborn baby Amos will end up for the 2026 season.
