The New York Giants might be mulling over a major decision involving their pass rusher, Kayvon Thibodeaux. After the Giants took him with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Thibodeaux has failed to live up to expectations.
Following four seasons with New York, the 25-year-old has recorded only 23.5 sacks, with most of them coming in 2023, when he recorded 11.5, per StatMuse. Since then, Thibodeaux has failed to reach double-digit sacks in a season, and the 2025 campaign was his worst sack-wise, as he recorded only 2.5.
As a result, Connor Hughes, who covers the Giants for SNY, reported on Feb. 26 that New York could be listening to offers on Thibodeaux as they appear open to cutting ties with him.

“A name to keep an eye on, the New York Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux,” Hughes said in his report. “They have Brian Burns at one edge, Abdul Carter on the other. Those two, along with Dexter Lawrence, are going to be at the heart of this defense.
“But Kayvon might be the one who is a little bit more expendable, at least somebody that the Giants are willing to listen to offers on. Teams that I’ve talked to around the NFL Combine believe he is available for the right price.”
With Thibodeaux looking like the odd man out and being more of a rotational pass rusher, the Giants might be looking to see if they can get anything for him this offseason.

“He’s someone who probably doesn’t factor into the Giants’ long-term plans,” Hughes added. “If [Giants head coach] John Harbaugh and [Giants general manager] Joe Schoen can get something for Thibodeaux that can both help the Giants this year and moving forward, it certainly sounds like, from the discussions I’ve had, that’s something they’re going to consider.”
Any interested team will be looking to see if they can find that 2023 version of Thibodeaux, and perhaps a change of scenery might do the pass rusher well.
