INDIANAPOLIS — The Las Vegas Raiders again graded out well in the annual NFL Players Association’s franchise report cards, obtained Thursday by ESPN.

There were some notable categories that brought the overall ranking down, however.

The Raiders finished seventh overall this year, down from fourth last season. The decline can largely be blamed on the F grade assigned by players to the team’s offensive coordinator.

That score is likely attributed to Chip Kelly, who was fired after 11 games on Nov. 23. According to ESPN, the survey was conducted from Nov. 2 to Dec. 11.

The coaching staff didn’t grade out well in the survey, which is no longer officially released by the NFLPA as a result of a league grievance that resulted in an arbitrator ruling the report cards violated the collective bargaining agreement by “disparaging NFL clubs and individuals.”

Coach Pete Carroll got a C+, as did the collective group of position coaches that included his son, Brennan, as offensive line coach.

Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, recently hired to the same position by the Pittsburgh Steelers, received a C. Raiders players gave a C- to the special teams coordinator. That position was held by Tom McMahon until he was fired in November.

The Raiders received no worse than a B in any of the other 12 categories ,and 11 of those were at least an A-, including general manager John Spytek.

Team owner Mark Davis got an A. The weight room received the lone A+.

This is the fourth year of the NFLPA report cards, which survey players around the league about many aspects of their organization.

The intent was to recognize teams being run well and hold accountable those that aren’t or perhaps are falling short in certain areas.

Several teams have used poor grades to make specific changes in the organization.

The Raiders, for instance, received a B+ in treatment of families last season and got an A this year after positive adjustments.

A new category that dinged several other franchises was a grade of the home field, but the Raiders came out with an A-.
