When someone like Tom Brady becomes part of your ownership group, it’s fair to wonder how much influence comes with the resume. Seven Super Bowl rings, more than two decades of experience and a reputation for obsessive preparation that’s not exactly the profile of someone who just sits quietly in the background. So as the Las Vegas Raiders continue shaping their future, fans have naturally been curious: how involved is Brady when it comes to the big decisions?
General manager John Spytek recently shed some light on that very question. And while the answer might not be as dramatic as some imagine, it definitely adds an interesting layer to how things are operating behind the scenes in Las Vegas.

Recently speaking to NFL on CBS, Spytek was asked about Tom Brady’s level of involvement in decision making.
“Tom is involved in anything football wise,” he said, clearing all doubts. “Anything that we do, I let him know about and we communicate about. Obviously there is an expectation with the first pick in the draft and the money we have that is going to be involved in that stuff. Any quarterback we have, there is a different evaluation process and pressure with having Tom in the building.”

One of the major decisions Brady, Spytek and the Las Vegas Raiders organization will have to make this offseason is what to do with the No. 1 overall pick. While most expect that selection to be used on a quarterback, the bigger question is what comes next.
GM John Spytek made it clear he’s not eager to throw a rookie straight into the fire. “You want to limit the amount of pressure on that guy from the start,” he said, emphasizing the need for protection, a run game and a defense that keeps things manageable. Ideally, he’d prefer a capable veteran under center early on.

Las Vegas doesn’t want to rush a young passer and watch his confidence unravel. With nearly $100 million in cap space, they have the flexibility to build the right environment whether that means signing a bridge quarterback or strengthening the roster around him.
