Needing to address the cornerback position, Arizona State’s Keith Abney said he met with the Jacksonville Jaguars at the 2026 NFL combine.

“I had an interview with them last night,” Abney told Sports Illustrated. “A great interview. Went well. Definitely interested in them. They’re interested in me. I think it could fit well. They got a new coaching staff, I believe and just interested in any team that’s interested in me. I think it would go well though.”

Abney is listed at 6-0, 190 pounds, according to PFF, and has started the last two seasons, with most of his snaps coming at outside cornerback.

Over his career, he’s allowed a completion rate of just 51% and has held opponents to 11.1 yards per catch. He has very good ball production with five interceptions and 17 pass breakups over the last two years, along with being a sound tackler.

“What I do best, I play hard,” Abney said. “I give great effort, and I do a good job of eliminating receivers, just taking them out of their game. I tackle really well. I feel like I got a lot of things that I can do on the field that a lot of corners probably can’t do and my instincts is something I’m good at.

“Something that I can probably get better at, being a little grabby. Got the penalties, but definitely just something I’m working on.”

As of now, the starting outside position opposite of Travis Hunter is available with Montaric Brown and Greg Newsome both free agents.

Also, adding competition throughout the back end of the depth chart could be on James Gladstone’s to-do list as well.
