Seattle Seahawks star DeMarcus Lawrence is weighing retirement shortly after capturing Super Bowl LX.
DeMarcus Lawrence, who turns 34 in April, enjoyed a bounce-back campaign after missing most of the prior year with a Lisfranc injury.
The 12-year veteran remains under contract for two additional seasons after signing a three-year, $32.5 million agreement last offseason.

Resurgent season followed by major question for DeMarcus Lawrence
DeMarcus Lawrence has yet to inform the organisation whether he intends to play in 2026. His decision now looms over a defense that powered Seattle to a championship.
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, neither the Seahawks nor individuals within Lawrence’s camp have clarity on his plans.
“I think one of the first questions they’ve got to figure out is whether or not DeMarcus Lawrence is coming back.
“That’s a very real question. And the Seahawks don’t know. I think people in DeMarcus Lawrence’s camp, at least when I checked a few days ago, still were not sure.”
He finished 2025 with six sacks, two fumble return touchdowns, and added sacks in both NFC playoff victories during the Super Bowl run.
The performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection and a $500,000 incentive bonus. His production was a significant factor in Seattle’s title campaign.
Financial implications add complexity to Seahawks decision
Lawrence is scheduled to earn $8.15 million in base salary in 2026, with $5 million of that figure guaranteed.
Because the guarantee vested shortly after the Super Bowl, a retirement would provide minimal cap relief for Seattle.
Should he step away, the Seahawks would face increased urgency at edge rusher, particularly with Boye Mafe approaching free agency and Derick Hall the only long-term option currently secured.
Lawrence has earned five Pro Bowl nods and an estimated $140 million in career salary, and he recently welcomed his sixth child.
With a championship ring secured, he now appears to be evaluating whether to conclude his career on a high note.
