After seven years with the Arizona Cardinals, it appears that Kyler Murray is entirely on the outs with the organization. But while the lack of interest in staying together seems clear, Murray’s next destination is murky.
That being said, there is at least one team out there that could be closer to landing Murray than any other. According to NBC’s Matthew Berry, the New York Jets are a team that he keeps hearing about as the inevitable destination for Murray.

“That is one that I keep hearing a decent amount… Kyler Murray to the Jets,” Berry recently said.
A perfect match?
Murray is under contract through 2028 but the Cardinals can’t cut him for at least another season. A trade is pretty much their only way to part ways with Murray this offseason.
That being said, the Jets have a number of reasons why they’d be likely candidates to land him. They have a new offensive coaching staff, which includes several assistants who have previously worked with Murray and the Cardinals.

More importantly, the Jets have a pressing need for any kind of talent at quarterback. They got next to nothing from the combined efforts of Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook this season, so the worst Murray can do is maintain the status quo.

Of course, if Murray does join the Jets and flops, the team will be able to just cut him in 2027 or 2028 with only minimal harm to their cap.
That being said, it’s hard to imagine Murray being that much better than what the Jets had last year either. As mentioned earlier, they’ve revamped the coaching staff so there’s no telling if they even have a system conducive to what Murray brings to the table.

Whether or not Murray becomes a Jet, let alone becomes their starter for 2026, it seems more than likely that they’ll be in the market for a long-term answer at quarterback in 2027.
