The Ann Arbor Police Department confirmed to multiple outlets that it is investigating sexual assault allegations against Lewis.
Earlier Friday, the Falcons stated that they were aware of the allegations and were in the process of gathering information before letting Lewis go a few hours later. The team hired Lewis this offseason as part of new head coach Kevin Stefanski’s staff.
The victim, identified in the Darko State News report as “Jane,” allegedly met Lewis on a social media dating platform before meeting in person in early December 2024. Lewis reportedly met Jane at a hotel under the guise of “returning property” before the encounter became allegedly violent. It was during this meeting that the sexual assault allegedly took place.

After that encounter, Jane allegedly disclosed what she says happened to former Michigan Wolverines football head coach Sherrone Moore, with whom she had mutual contacts. Moore allegedly told Jane that he could not report Lewis, but rather that Jane would need to report it herself.

In January 2025, Lewis allegedly traveled to Jane’s apartment, where they met for the second time, at which time he allegedly engaged in physical violence against her. The police responded after neighbors called 911 regarding the disturbance, and a report was filed. Photos of the injuries allegedly sustained during the incident were shared in the initial Darko State News report.
Notably, Moore was fired by the University of Michigan in December for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
On behalf of the University of Michigan, spokesman Paul Corliss shared the following statement: “These allegations are deeply concerning. As we have noted, the University launched an investigation of the circumstances and conduct leading to Sherrone Moore’s firing, as well as a broader culture review of the Athletic Department.”
Corliss also urged anyone with information regarding the case to reach out to the law firm conducting the investigation.
