Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby.
Though the Las Vegas Raiders are at the NFL Scouting Combine getting a closer look at likely No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza, that’s not the biggest talking point surrounding the team right now. Defensive end Maxx Crosby’s future is still in flux.
There have been a lot of trade rumors surrounding his name the last few months, and Crosby and the Raiders have done little to shut those down. Crosby finished the season on the Injured Reserve, much to his chagrin.
He may not have been happy with the decision, but he did have to get surgery to repair his knee. Crosby has been on crutches for much of the offseason, but he’s finally able to walk on his own again.
Crosby posted a video of him playing basketball with his daughter and gave a big update about his injury.
“Two weeks out, no crunches anymore. We’re walking, we’re moving. Shoutout to Drew, shoutout to Jocelyn, shoutout to Morgan, shoutout to Dr. Neil. We’re rolling and cooking. I’m still a shoot,” Crosby said in a clip shared on X.
While this doesn’t address the trade rumors, it could have some implications on trade talks. The fact that he’s getting healthier should calm any worries about his health for a team interested in trading for him.
Latest on Crosby Trade Rumors
The Raiders have said that they don’t want to trade Crosby, but that doesn’t mean a deal won’t happen. There hasn’t been a lot of movement on a possible trade, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
“The sense I’m getting on Maxx Crosby right now is I don’t think anything has changed in terms of I know John Spytek, the general manager, said that he foresees Maxx Crosby being on the roster. I think he has to see that. I think he should see that,” Russini said on the “Scoop City” podcast.
“Until Maxx comes out publicly and says, I’m a Raider forever, which we’ve seen him do. Just knowing how that ended this season, and how disappointed, frustrated, and angry he appeared. Unless he’s really taken a lot of time away and recoup in here, and maybe cooler heads prevail. I don’t know. Maxx Crosby comes to me, he’s the type of person if he’s going to make a decision, I bet you he sticks with it.”
Klint Kubiak Wants Crosby on Raiders
The Raiders’ defense is already light on talent, so trading their best player only makes things worse. Yes, the team could get some valuable draft picks in return, but none of those players are going to have the impact of Crosby as rookies.
New head coach Klint Kubiak understands that the Raiders are rebuilding, but it’s hard to imagine he wants to trade his best player already. If it were up to him, Crosby would not get traded this offseason.
“It’s a guy that we really want on our team, simple as that,” Kubiak said at the Combine. “We want Maxx to be a Raider and the few interactions I’ve had with him have been very positive. Really excited about working with Maxx this year.”
