The Baltimore Ravens‘ offseason to-do list is rather long, and the franchise has to start making progress on it.
Lamar Jackson’s contract has dominated the headlines, as has the future of three-time Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, who is in doubt to remain with the franchise.
But there is also another player who is going under the radar as it pertains to their contract status.
And that’s Zay Flowers.
With one year left on his contract before the Ravens can pick up his fifth-year option, we often see teams extend players prior to that.Â
However, ESPN’s Dan Graziano thinks the Ravens will opt to pick up Zay’s option.
“I got the impression from my conversations that the Ravens plan to pick up the fifth-year option on 2023 first-round pick Zay Flowers, and that will put him in line to earn $27.298 million in 2027 after making $2.664 million in 2026,” Graziano wrote.

Ravens should plan for long Flowers stay
But to do that, Baltimore has to agree to an extension with Flowers, which, going by Graziano’s report, it won’t.
The fifth-year option is a rather pricy one, at just over $27 million for 2027, and if the Ravens can agree to an extension before the deadline comes for the option, that will ease Zay’s cap hit in 2027.
Of course, that is predicated on Flowers wanting an extension this offseason, and with so many other irons in the fire with Lamar and Linderbaum, the Ravens might have to put their two-time Pro Bowler’s future on ice.
Which isn’t a great spot to be.
