It’s no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers want to add to their wide receiver room this offseason, and some believe that could come in the form of one of the league’s fastest players.
Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report named wide receiver Rashid Shaheed as the perfect free-agent signing for the Steelers.
“We’re going to assume for a minute that Aaron Rodgers is coming back. If not, the Steelers dream signing would become a quarterback. For now, their dream signing should improve the weaponry for Rodgers next season,” Ballentine wrote. “Signing a speedster like Rashid Shaheed immediately forms the offense closer to what Mike McCarthy likes to work with. Shaheed proved to be a valuable complementary receiver in his nine-game run with Seattle and the playoffs. He could be paid like a No. 2 receiver in Pittsburgh.”
Shaheed, 27, joined the Seahawks in a trade deadline swap from the New Orleans Saints, and made a big impact after joining Seattle.
In nine regular-season games, he caught 15 passes for 188 yards, and he added three catches for 78 yards in Seattle’s three playoff games. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the Seahawks’ playoff win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Shaheed has already expressed that he wants to remain with the Seahawks after winning Super Bowl LX, but Seattle has several important pending free agents, including Shaheed, Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III and defensive backs Coby Bryant, Josh Jobe and Riq Woolen.
If Shaheed gets his way, the Steelers will never even have a shot at landing him. However, if there isn’t enough money to go around, he could fill in nicely as Pittsburgh’s No. 2 wide receiver.
Shaheed is expected to receive a deal that pays him $14.1 million per season, according to Spotrac.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh has plenty of salary cap space and a massive need at the wide receiver position, with just three players under contract from last year’s team: DK Metcalf, Pro Bowl special teamer Ben Skowronek and former third-round draft pick Roman Wilson, who finished the 2025 season with 12 catches and was a healthy scratch for most of the stretch run.
An undrafted free agent out of the 2022 NFL Draft, Shaheed has recorded 153 catches for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his professional career.
