Montgomery has hit out at claims that he wants to switch teams ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

He joined the Lions in 2023 after four years with the Chicago Bears.

But reports from ESPN have suggested that the running back’s three-year association could soon come to an end.

Montgomery had been linked with a move to the Seattle Seahawks as a potential replacement if Kenneth Walker III does leave.

However, Montgomery has poured cold water on these rumors with his return to social media.

The experienced running back responded to a report on his potential exit on X.

“Damn, Dmo told you that ?” Montgomery said.

It marks the Lions star’s first post on the platform since March 2024.

His last post was an advertisement for digital player cards on the NFL Rivals mobile game.

Montgomery’s statement comes after offensive tackle Dan Skipper, 31, announced his retirement from the NFL.

The running back made 716 yards from 158 carries throughout the 2025 season.

This resulted in eight touchdowns for the Lions.

Montgomery’s role has reduced following the emergence of the 23-year-old Jahmyr Gibbs.

The duo have been nicknamed ‘Sonic and Knuckles’ after the popular video game characters.

Montgomery has taken on the mantle of ‘Knuckles’ for his strong short-yard game.

While Gibbs has been named ‘Sonic’ for his incredible speed.

But their impact was not enough for the Lions to reach the playoffs with offensive coordinator John Morton, 56, being fired.

The Lions finished fourth in the NFC North with just nine wins from 17 games during the 2025 season.
