Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, to no one’s surprise, made a huge impression on NFL scouts this past weekend at the combine, so much so that he may have moved up the draft board.
Many NFL analysts and scouts thought Simpson would go late in the first round, but he may be picked sooner if the Cleveland Browns decide to make a move.
Reports are that the Browns may draft Simpson at the No. 6 slot. Simpson already has a relationship with Browns head coach Todd Monken, who recruited him while he was an assistant at Georgia.
Simpson has also said he’d love to play for Monken.
“My dad and coach Monken go way back,” Simpson told Cleveland.com. “They talk often. He texted him when he got the job, and they’ve texted a little bit [since], so if I had the opportunity to play for the Browns, it would be a dream come true.”

Simpson also seemed to like the New York Jets. Although Simpson and Monken seem to be in awe of each other, most NFL draft experts still expect him to go in the late rounds to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The dark horse in this conversation is the Los Angeles Rams, who are also interested in him.
