Mike Evans had a disappointing season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He appeared in just eight games because of a hamstring sprain and a broken collarbone. His limited time on the field led to just 30 receptions (career-low) for 368 yards (career-low) and three touchdowns (tied for career-low).
With an expiring contract, Evans is set to hit free agency on March 11. After spending 12 years with the Buccaneers, signs are pointing toward the six-time Pro Bowler suiting up for a new team in 2026.

Bailey Bassett of ClutchPoints predicts that Evans will sign a two-year, $33 million contract with the Buffalo Bills.

“Regression and injuries will be a concern with Evans going forward, as the Texas A&M product was limited to eight games in what was his worst season to date this past year,” Bassett wrote. “Still, Evans seemingly has something left in the tank. Considering George Pickens was just franchise tagged, he is the top option on the open market for Buffalo to go out and get.”

With Josh Allen under center through the 2030 season as part of his six-year, $330 million contract, the Bills continue to search for productive receiving threats. Evans’ past success of reaching at least 1,000 yards in 11 straight seasons (2014 to 2024) makes him an intriguing option.
Evans could immediately become the Bills’ top receiving threat, alleviating pressure from wide receiver Khalil Shakir, who last season had 72 receptions (led team), 719 yards (led team) and four touchdowns.
Even without a 1,000-yard receiver, Buffalo finished the year tied for fourth in points per game (28.3). Bringing in a proven veteran could elevate the unit even further.

However, Bassett’s prediction does have the Bills paying a steep price. Spotrac’s market value for Evans projects him earning a two-year, $26 million deal. However, with a thin wide receiver market, he could command a higher price if multiple teams are interested.
