Jordyn Tyson hasn’t been around for the Pittsburgh Steelers to consider in most 2026 NFL Draft mock-ups. In Lance Zierlein’s latest projection for NFL.com, it was a different case.

The Steelers plucked the Arizona State receiver with the No. 21 overall pick, putting him beside DK Metcalf for whoever takes the field behind center for Pittsburgh next season.

“A strong 40 time at Arizona State’s pro day could take Tyson off the board before this pick, but for now, he’s easily the best available player at a position of need for the Steelers,” Zieirlein wrote Monday.

Tyson, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 203 pounds, met with the Steelers at last week’s NFL Scouting Combine and called Pittsburgh head coach Mike McCarthy “a legend in Dallas.” His redshirt junior season with the Sun Devils was cut short by a hamstring injury, and he missed on-field testing in Indianapolis.

Tyson was the third receiver taken off the board in the mock draft, after Ohio State’s Carnell Tate (No. 11, Miami) and USC’s Makai Lemon (No. 13, Los Angeles Rams). Indiana’s Omar Cooper Jr. (No. 24, Cleveland), Washington’s Denzel Boston (No. 26, Buffalo) and Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion (No. 31, New England) were other first-round wideouts.

“I feel like I’m a very quick player,” Tyson said last week. “I’m a little twitched up is what Hines Ward would say. But yeah, I feel like I can win on my feet in various ways and I can set up defenders and win with my feet.”

Tyson notched 711 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 61 grabs last season. He’s tabbed as the No. 11 overall player on the NFL Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board.
