During NFL combine week, it was reported that the Indianapolis Colts and Anthony Richardson mutually agreed to seek a trade.

For a while now, this outcome has felt inevitable.

So what’s the latest in the early going here on where things stand with these trade talks? The NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe recently shared what he is hearing.

“Those talks have continued this weekend with several teams, I’m told, talking with the Colts about getting Richardson,” Wolfe said. “The biggest thing here is compensation. It’s not going to be a huge price, but you have to figure out in a unique situation for how much a talented young player who is entering the end of his first round contract. So no timeline on a decision. Both teams are trying to find the right fit.”

Wolfe also previously reported that the Minnesota Vikings were a team to watch.

Richardson’s agents then weighed in on the trade talks last week as well.

Wolfe also mentioned that determining the trade compensation will be one of the biggest talking points in these trade conversations. We covered that topic recently here, along with the salary cap ramifications of trading him.

However, along with that, Richardson is ultimately looking to land with a team that has a coach who can help him continue to develop.

“As far as Richardson’s team,” Wolfe added, “they’ve talked about what is important for him — yes, he would love to play. But more importantly, they want to find a coach who will consistently develop him and his skill set. Help him be the player that he can ultimately be, and he’s willing to sit behind a veteran with a strong coach if that’s what it ultimately means.”

A few NFL analysts selected some ideal trade fits for Richardson.
