NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur will see left tackle Rasheed Walker get considerable interest from AFC teams this offseason.

Heading into the 2026 NFL offseason, there were many Green Bay Packers fans who were calling for the team to make a head coaching change.

Matt LaFleur has started to wear out his welcome with a good portion of the fan base. Whether it be due to his lack of postseason success or the Packers consistently blowing leads and losing games during the 2025 season, there is no question that LaFleur is on the hot seat.

Despite the calls for LaFleur to be replaced, Green Bay chose to keep him in town with a contract extension. However, that doesn’t mean that he’s safe long-term.

It’s still very possible that the Packers could replace LaFleur in the near future if the team doesn’t live up to the expectations. With that in mind, a new update has been shared by a Green Bay insider about his future with the team.

Green Bay Packers Insider Reveals Update on Matt LaFleur

According to Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, LaFleur seems to have been given just two seasons to figure things out with the Packers.

He also suggested that general manager Brian Gutekunst has been given the same amount of time.

“This is just my speculation. I’m thinking that this gives [LaFleur and Gutekunst] two years to improve on what they’ve done,” Dougherty said.

Honestly, it’s a good decision from Green Bay if that speculation turns out to be accurate. LaFleur has won a lot of regular season games since taking over as the Packers’ head coach back in 2019. He has gone 76-40-1 in the regular season, but his 3-6 playoff record has been a concern.

It’s hard to find a better head coach than LaFleur in the grand scheme of things. Giving him a couple more years to lead a Super Bowl run makes sense.

The Packers Are Facing a Pivotal NFL Offseason

Gutekunst will have some tough decisions to make this offseason. Green Bay has quite a few quality free agents who could leave town or be re-signed.

Past the in-house free agents, the Packers have work to do on the roster in order to win a championship. They need to improve the secondary defensively and adding another pass rusher could be an option as well.

Green Bay will need to bring in a new backup quarterback behind Jordan Love assuming Malik Willis leaves town in free agency. The Packers also need a quality and consistent backup running back behind Josh Jacobs.

There are quite a few things that must be accomplished this offseason. For both LaFleur and Gutekunst, the clock seems to be ticking and expectations are high.
