The Pittsburgh Steelers spent a lot of time formally meeting with receivers at last week’s NFL Scouting Combine. In his latest 2026 NFL Draft mock-up, ESPN’s Jordan Reid had Mike McCarthy’s team adding to its pass-catching arsenal.

The Steelers plucked Arizona State wideout Jordyn Tyson with the No. 21 overall pick.

“Tyson is arguably the most talented receiver in this class, but I have him falling to the Steelers because of concerns about his durability,” Reid wrote Tuesday. “He has dealt with nagging injuries and never played a full season in college. When he plays, Tyson is a strong, productive (61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns last season) ball winner on the outside who shows versatility with his route tree.

“The Steelers need a No. 2 receiver in the ‘Z’ role opposite DK Metcalf, and Tyson could be that player.”

Tyson, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 203 pounds, met with the Steelers in Indianapolis. He opted not to test on-field in front of decision-makers.

Ohio State’s Carnell Tate (No. 9, Kansas City) and USC’s Makai Lemon (No. 12, New York Jets) were the wideouts who went ahead of Tyson in the projection. Indiana’s Omar Cooper (No. 24, Cleveland) and Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion (No. 27, San Francisco) were the other first-round receivers.

In the second round, with the No. 53 choice, the Steelers added Miami cornerback Keionte Scott.

“Scott is a high-intensity, physical nickel defender who isn’t afraid to chirp a bit, making him a perfect fit in Pittsburgh’s defensive backfield,” Reid wrote. “He has the talent to immediately change the outlook of a secondary.”
