The Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots are all in the market for edge rusher help this offseason and a new option has just hit the trade block.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings are open to trading Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard.

Schefter notes that the Vikings would like to keep Greenard, but salary cap issues could force their hand. The Vikings are currently $46 million over the cap with a little over a week to go until the new league year hits on March 11.

“Vikings are now open to trading Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Geeenard,” the ESPN insider reported. “They would like to keep Greenard, but they also have salary cap issues they’re working through that have led to these trade conversations.”

Greenard had a down year in 2025 with three sacks in 12 games, but he also battled injury. In the two years prior, Greenard posted 24.5 sacks combined in 32 games, and he notched a Pro Bowl nod in 2024.

There should be significant interest in Greenard on the trade block, and three teams that could come calling are the Patriots, Cowboys and Eagles.

New England doesn’t have a sure starting solution opposite Harold Landry thanks to the pending free-agent status of K’Lavon Chaisson. Greenard would actually provide an upgrade over Chaisson, as he’s more proven.

The Eagles could lose Jaelan Phillips to free agency, but even if he does come back, Philly needs another edge rusher opposite him.

In Dallas, they need multiple edge rushers as the team continues to look to replace the production lost when it shipped Micah Parsons off to the Green Bay Packers.

Greenard is under contract through 2027, but he also has cap hits of $18.3 million in each of the next two years, hence why Minnesota is willing to deal him.

Those factors, along with his coming off a down year, could lead to Greenard coming at a reasonable price, which will make him even more attractive to the suitors we mentioned, as well as many others.
