Georgia men’s tennis climbed to No. 8 in the ITA rankings released March 3 following a strong start to SEC play.
The Bulldogs jumped five spots from No. 13 after earning a road win over then-No. 14 Texas A&M. Georgia also fell to then-No. 4 Texas in a 4-0 shutout, a loss that snapped an eight-match win streak and ended its undefeated start in conference play. Texas has since moved up to No. 2 nationally.
Georgia’s only other loss this season came against TCU, which is now ranked No. 7. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face the Horned Frogs again later this spring.
The last time Georgia was ranked inside the top 10 was June 7, 2023, when it finished the season at No. 7 nationally.
Georgia defeated Texas A&M 4-3 in College Station, Texas, rallying from a 3-1 deficit. Senior Santiago Giamichelle clinched the match after dropping the first set before rebounding to win 6-4, 6-0 in the final two sets.
Several Bulldogs saw movement in the individual rankings. Giamichelle is ranked No. 81 in singles and moved up to No. 43 in doubles alongside Arda Azkara. Azkara climbed 10 spots in singles to No. 32, while Will Jansen is ranked No. 34 and freshman Noah Johnston sits at No. 120.
Georgia is 10-2 overall and 3-1 in SEC play, remaining undefeated at home this season.
The Bulldogs return home to continue SEC play against Alabama on Friday, March 6.
