The 2026 NFL free agent legal tampering window begins in less than a week and the Los Angeles Chargers find themselves in a good place with around $80 million in cap space.

Sports Illustrated dropped its best landing spots for the top 50 free agents, with Gilberto Manzano naming the Bolts as a potential suitor for the Super Bowl LX winner Rashid Shaheed of the Seattle Seahawks.

“Shaheed’s elite speed could bring him plenty of millions in free agency, but he had a handful of quiet games in Seattle after being traded by New Orleans [Saints] at the deadline,” Manzano wrote. “Shaheed did, however, have a memorable 58-yard punt return touchdown to spark an epic comeback win vs. the [Los Angeles] Rams in Week 16. For the season, Shaheed had 59 catches for 687 yards and two touchdowns.”

The Chargers can benefit from the two-way player. LA was in the bottom half of the league in both kick (1,633) and punt (136) return yards, with Shaheed excelling in both return games.

The return specialist had 447 kick yards with a touchdown, and 339 punt return yards, returning one for six points. His performance earned him a Pro Bowl nomination in the 2025 season.

SI projects Rashid Shaheed will receive a two-year, $30 million contract in the upcoming free agency.

Rashid Shaheed Reveals Feelings With SeahawksRashid Shaheed

There’s no feeling like winning the Super Bowl and that plays a huge factor on deciding where players want to sign next.

Rashid Shaheed appeared on the NFL Network and was asked if he would like to return to the Seattle Seahawks. Here’s what he said:

“Absolutely, absolutely, yeah… Conversations are definitely going to be heating up towards March. But you know, I would love to come back. I loved my experience here, I’m loving the Pacific Northwest, and obviously the organization is second to none. I kind of want to run it back. We just won the Super Bowl, so, you know, why not?”

Seattle has around $55 million in cap space and could also provide Shaheed the projected Sports Illustrated’s deal, giving some competition to the Los Angeles Chargers.

While adding Rashid Shaheed would benefit the Los Angeles Chargers, the team has bigger priorities.

The Bolts are set to have a major change on the offensive line after Justin Herbert was one of the most sacked QBs in the league last season.

“I feel really good going into free agency and the draft coming up,” Hortiz said, via the Chargers. “I love where we are in terms of the players certainly and what we have the opportunity to add.

“Really excited about the new coaching additions and what we’ve done… Had a chance to have some meetings with them and start talking ball. It’s been a lot of fun.”

Getting some quality protectors will elevate the entire offense when Herbert has time to scan the field and the runners can have space to run through the gaps.

With $80 million in cap, Los Angeles could get some offensive linemen and also bring in Rashid Shaheed, who can be a deep field threat for new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
