BLUFFTON, Ga. (WTOC) -Ridgeland, SC native, Stephen Nimmer returns home after 13 successful season at Powedersville to become the May River Shark new head football coach.
May River High School introduced Stephen Nimmer as its new head football coach Tuesday, presenting him to players for the first time.
Nimmer comes to May River from Powdersville, where he spent 13 years. He began his tenure with the Patriots as an offensive line coach before moving into the role of defensive coordinator.
Nimmer attended Thomas Heyward Academy through the ninth grade then graduated from Wren High School before attending Clemson University.
This will be Nimmer’s first head coaching role in his career but this is nowhere near a rebuild, it’s a matter of taking that next step as a program.
Coach is actively looking for his offensive coordinator and intends to change a couple of things involving the scheme (more pass). He also mentioned it’ll come down to his players and what skill sets they present.
He takes over the program following the resignation of Richard Bonneville, who stepped down in mid-December after three seasons, including a 7-4 record in 2025.
