The Chicago Bears are going after a few star NFL players before the start of the league’s new year next week.

More News: Raiders’ Maxx Crosby wants to join Bears

With center Drew Dalman retiring, the Bears have been looking at potential replacements at center, including Baltimore Ravens star center Tyler Linderbaum.

The Bears have an obvious interest in adding Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders, though it’s unclear if general manager Ryan Poles is willing to part with two first-round picks and a player to make that move happen.

Chicago does have a player available to trade if they want to add a star player. With a young core of receivers and tight ends, the Bears could trade DJ Moore this offseason. (He’d be an obvious player to give to the Raiders, expected to draft quarterback Fernando Mendoza at No. 1.)

During an appearance on 670 The Score Wednesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune suggested the Bears could trade Moore to clear up cap space to bring in a player of need at another position.

Biggs thinks it’s becoming more likely that Moore has played his final snap for Chicago.

“They’ve been so transparent and candid about his situation that I think chances are better than not that he’s probably traded,” Biggs said.

.@BradBiggs on Bears: “(Potentially) dealing DJ Moore is not addition by subtraction. There’s a plan, and it’s the $16.5 million in cap space that they’re going to create if they trade him is earmarked for Player A or Players A and B. You’ll be able to connect it and see it.” pic.twitter.com/tzPP1zPEjd

More News: Bears-Raiders Maxx Crosby trade could happen soon

During the NFL combine last week, Poles said the Bears were looking at potential scenarios where Moore wouldn’t be on the team.

“So, I have nothing but great things to say about him,” Poles said. “But this is the time where we have to look at all the different scenarios and see what can allow us to put the best team we can put out there.

“There’s relationships there, there’s a lot there that makes it really, really difficult. He’s a guy we want here, but we have to look at all the different scenarios.”

Moore played a key role in beating the Green Bay Packers twice last season, including scoring the game-winning touchdown against the Packers in the wild-card round.

While he’d be a big miss for the Bears, young receivers like Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III should play a greater role in head coach Ben Johnson’s offense in 2026.
