OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women’s flag football team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday evening at AdventHealth Field, defeating Bethel College 78-0. Ottawa’s offense was explosive through the air while the Braves’ defense overwhelmed the Threshers from start to finish. The Braves tied a school record for sacks in a single game with seven.

Ottawa wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. With 10:08 remaining in the first quarter, Anna Anderson connected with Olga Sotillo on a 36-yard touchdown pass. Anderson added the extra point to give the Braves a 7-0 lead.

Just minutes later, Anderson found Tatiana Dos Santos for an eight-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14-0. The Braves then added a defensive score when Bethany Uribe intercepted a Bethel pass and returned it 16 yards for a touchdown.

Anderson continued to lead the offensive surge, tossing a 22-yard touchdown pass to Alyssa Linkous late in the first quarter as Ottawa built a 28-0 advantage.

The Braves kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter. Anderson hit Linkous for a 36-yard touchdown early in the period and then connected with her again on a 43-yard scoring strike just before halftime to give Ottawa a 42-0 lead at the break.

Ottawa’s offense remained efficient in the second half behind quarterback Olivia Cadiz. Cadiz threw touchdown passes to Dos Santos and Marley Spielberg in the third quarter. The Braves’ special teams also got involved when Susann Kaufmann returned a punt 37 yards for a touchdown.

Cadiz added two more touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, finding Isabella Sosa for a 30-yard score and Kailey Verhoeven for a 10-yard touchdown. Ottawa’s defense also forced a safety to add to the scoring as the Braves cruised to the 78-0 victory.
