After missing Tuesday’s practice, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs was on the field with an ear-to-ear grin on his face on Thursday.

The four-time Pro Bowler has been working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered while playing for the Houston Texans last year. There is no certainty that he’ll be ready by the start of the season, but the fact that he was on the field running routes and catching passes is obviously a good sign.

Diggs is projected to be Patriots quarterback Drake Maye’s new No. 1 receiving target. Fans got a teaser of the star wideout in his Patriots practice uniform while preparing for the 2025 season.

Before going down with the knee injury, Diggs had racked up 1,000 receiving yards for the previous six consecutive seasons.

That level of elite production at receiver is something the Patriots haven’t had since Tom Brady was throwing to Julian Edelman. Diggs’ arrival could be the linchpin for Maye’s career and the spark needed for the offense as a whole to get back on track.
