The New York Giants were reportedly interested in acquiring two-time All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday, but their efforts fell short as the Los Angeles Rams outbid them.

The Giants are attempting to upgrade their secondary in any manner possible this offseason, but this is quite a haul for the Rams to give up for McDuffie. There was no way the Giants were forking over their 2026 first-round pick (No. 5 overall), and they don’t have a third-round pick, so their offer was likely nowhere nearly as attractive.

The Giants’ outside corners right now are last year’s big free agent pickup, Paulson Adebo, and Cor’Dale Flott, who will be eligible for free agency come next week.

It’s difficult to gauge what the Giants’ new brain trust, led by new head coach John Harbaugh, is thinking, but after parting ways with linebacker Bobby Okereke, their leading tackler and defensive captain, this week, all bets are off.

They likely don’t see Adebo as a strong enough No. 1 corner and want to upgrade over Flott across the field.
