Trent Brown is back at NRG Stadium for the 2026 season.

According to reports, the Houston Texans and the veteran offensive tackle agreed to terms on a one-year, $7 million extension, keeping him on the offensive line as right tackle for 2026. Brown was a steady option for Houston’s pass protection down the stretch amid a 12-5 season and run throughout the postseason.

The 32-year-old offensive lineman started seven games in the regular season after missing the beginning of the year while on the injured reserve. His best performance came in Houston’s wild-card round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, where rookie running back Woody Marks rushed for a career-high 116 yards and a touchdown.

He missed the divisional round game against the New England Patriots, which factored into the team’s 28-16 loss.

A 10-year veteran, Brown has been around the block, starting with the San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals before joining the Texans last offseason on a one-year deal. Most of the year was lost since Brown was working his way back from a torn patellar tendon suffered in the 2024 season with the Bengals.

According to most mock drafts, targeting a right tackle is viewed as a priority for the franchise. Just because the Texans re-signed Brown doesn’t mean the team isn’t planning to prioritize addressing the offensive line for the futue.

Several names who could be the pick at No. 28 include Utah’s Caleb Lomu, Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor, Arizona State’s Max Iheanachor and Clemson’s Blake Miller. The Texans also own four draft picks within the first 70 selections, including two picks in the second round.
