Aaron Rodgers steals Ben Roethlisberger’s words for Pittsburgh coach Mike McCarthy
Back when a lot of criticism came McCarthy’s way for being hired as Pittsburgh coach, Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger came to his rescue. In late January, on his Footbahlin podcast, the former quarterback said fans should give the coach a chance because he bled black and gold as a kid. He said the fans should value a coach who bled black and gold as a kid more than an offensive-minded genius.Roethlisberger wanted the Steelers Nation to give McCarthy a chance because he has a proven track record. He then parted the podcast with a warning, “I’m mad that people don’t give this guy a chance because he wants this job. I want everyone to call in and tell me how wrong they were in three years.”So, Rodgers reinforced Roethlisberger’s statement during his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.“Mike bleeds Pittsburgh, PA,” Rodgers said. “There’s something special about that. For a guy who’s going to come home and lead a historic franchise. There are only a few of those cornerstone franchises. Who else would you rather have led? A guy who literally bleeds black and gold and loves the city with all his heart. And this is like a dream job for him.”Now that he has spoken highly of the current head coach, is it possible he might return for one more season? That remains to be seen…
