The Atlanta Falcons have yet to show their hand ahead of the 2026 NFL free agency period. Despite reports that the team is releasing wide receivers Darnell Mooney and KhaDarel Hodge, nothing has been confirmed as of Friday afternoon.
The Falcons placed the franchise tag on tight end Kyle Pitts, but several pending free agents remain unsigned ahead of the new league year. Edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie and linebacker Kaden Elliss are among those waiting to learn their fate.
While many assumed Atlanta would move on without Ebiketie, that expectation changed due to James Pearce Jr.’s recent legal troubles. There’s no guarantee Ebiketie returns, but we wouldn’t rule it out, especially based on his latest social media interaction.
The former second-round pick called “cap” on an article that suggested he may sign with the Carolina Panthers in NFL free agency.

The Falcons selected Ebiketie in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Penn State. Despite generating a solid pressure rate during his four seasons in Atlanta, the sacks have been slow to come for the former Nittany Lions standout.

Ebiketie has recorded 129 tackles (80 solo), 16.5 sacks and four forced fumbles over his four-year career. After having a career year in 2024, Ebiketie’s role was reduced when the Falcons drafted two first-round edge rushers.
Nonetheless, he still appeared in all 17 games and recorded 25 total pressures last season. Considering Pearce’s uncertain future, it would make sense for Atlanta to bring back Ebiketie for a fifth season.
