It’s no surprise there’s a robust market for Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher Maxx Crosby, and the likelihood of him being traded within the next few days has steadily increased.

Understandably, the San Francisco 49ers are one of several teams reportedly in on Crosby’s services, and he’s teased the idea of heading to the Bay Area on more than one occasion. And there’s no doubt the Niners could use his services after recording a league-low 20 sacks in 2025.

The problem? San Francisco isn’t going to be alone in the Crosby sweepstakes. Not by a long shot.

And there’s already a team reportedly far ahead of the 49ers (and others) in putting together a trade package for Crosby that Vegas would likely entertain.

Ravens reportedly emerge as front-runners for Maxx Crosby trade

The Niners are already at a disadvantage in the market for Crosby, boasting the No. 27 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft; notably late in Round 1. That means 25 better possibilities for a trade package exist (obviously, the Raiders aren’t trading Crosby to themselves).

According to insider Jason La Canfora of Sportsboom, citing what an anonymous general manager told him, the Baltimore Ravens appear poised to blow out any other significant offers to ensure they land Crosby this offseason:

“‘I heard pretty strongly they are offering their one (first-round pick), plus two more Day Two (rounds two and three) picks,’ said one general manager who is also in pursuit of Crosby.

‘I don’t know exactly in which years, and they probably want them spread out, but Baltimore is being aggressive.’

The Ravens are drafting higher than usual, able to dangle picks in the middle of each round rather than in the back end as a playoff team. “

The Ravens hold the No. 14 overall pick, so that logic makes plenty of sense. And even though La Canfora hasn’t always hit on his reports in previous years, the Baltimore-based insider might have a bit better of a pulse on what the Ravens are doing in contrast to other teams across the NFL.

Either way, it does set up the very real chance of San Francisco being totally outbid for Crosby, which shouldn’t be too shocking anyway.
