The Los Angeles Rams reportedly agreed to re-sign veteran tight end Tyler Higbee to a two-year deal in free agency, according to his agent Erik Burkhardt. The contract is worth up to $8 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Higbee was a pending free agent who was also considering retiring this offseason. In addition to Higbee, the Rams knew quarterback Matthew Stafford and offensive tackle Rob Havenstein were considering retiring after the 2025 season.

Havenstein was the only member of the trio to announce his retirement. Meanwhile, Stafford revealed he would return to the Rams for another season during his acceptance speech for the 2025 NFL Most Valuable Player Award.

Higbee is Now the Longest-Tenured Player on the Rams’ Roster

The Rams drafted Higbee out of Western Kentucky with in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has spent all 10 seasons of his career with Los Angeles and will now return for his 11th season with the franchise in 2026.

Havenstein was the Rams’ longest-tenured player before he retired this offseason. Rams coach Sean McVay called both Higbee and Havenstein “legacy players” for the organization

“They’ve been legacy players, they’ve been legacy human beings, more importantly,” McVay said of the pair in an end-of-season video conference in February, per the team’s official website.

Higbee is the Rams’ all-time leading tight end with 3,949 receiving yards. He will look to stay healthy for the entire 2026 season after missing significant time with injuries in the last two seasons.

Last season, he missed seven games with an ankle injury. And before that, Higbee was sidelined for the first 14 games of the 2024 season after tearing his ACL during the Rams’ playoff loss to the Detroit Lions the season prior.

Higbee’s veteran experience and leadership will be helpful as the Rams chase after a Super Bowl championship next season.
