Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Sterling Shepard has snapped up a sprawling $3.14 million Florida mansion—amid rumors that the NFL team is looking to re-sign the veteran wide receiver, whose contract with the team came to an end this month, leaving him a free agent.

Shepard, 33, who formerly played for the New York Giants, signed with the Buccaneers on a one-year contract in June 2024; however, he was not promoted to the team’s active roster until October of that year. He then re-signed with the Florida-based team for another 12 months in March 2025.

When that latest contract came to an end, the sports star became an unrestricted free agent, meaning he is allowed to sign with any team that might approach him with an offer. However, rumors are swirling that the Buccaneers are already toying with the idea of bringing him back for another season—proving their commitment to Shepard by paying him out a reported $500,000 bonus in February.

According to Fox Sports’ Greg Auman, the Bucs agreed to fulfill Shepard’s bonus despite the fact that he did not meet the contract requirements for the payment. When he signed his contract, the NFL veteran was told he would receive two bonuses of $125,000 each—one if he reached 40 catches and the other if he ran 400 yards.

Despite putting on a very solid performance throughout the 2025 season, Shepard fell short of these goals—by one catch and by 29 yards—because he was sidelined in the last few games when other players on the team returned from injury.

Still, it seems the Buccaneers were eager to recognize his efforts and not only paid him both of those bonuses, but also gave him an “additional $250,000,” for a total of $500,000, according to Auman.

Shepard wasted no time in splashing that cash—and cementing his commitment to the Sunshine State—by snapping up a palatial four-bedroom, four-bathroom in Davie, FL, about a four-hour drive away from the Buccaneers’ stadium in Tampa.

“The indoor-outdoor transition is seamless. Step outside to a lush, landscaped oasis with fruit trees, saltwater pool & spa, summer kitchen, outdoor shower, wood-accent ceilings and multiple lounge & entertaining zones,” the listing crows.

“Additional upgrades include a smart-home system, outdoor projectors, wine display, air-conditioned garage, 3 EV charging stations and a full-home generator. Plans for a 1,522-sq-ft East Wing expansion, including an additional 3-car garage, creating a compelling value-add opportunity for the next owner. Centrally located just 25 minutes to Fort Lauderdale Airport, 37 minutes to Miami International Airport.”

Speaking about the deal, Knops praised Shepard as an “exceptional” client, gushing that the NFL star was fully involved in the entire process of finding his dream home.

“Sterling Shepard was exceptional to work with. He further explained why Shepard landed on this specific Florida estate.

“Luxury buyers in South Florida are increasingly shifting toward estate-style living. Properties that offer nearly an acre of land, modern construction, and true privacy—while still being within reach of Miami and Fort Lauderdale—are becoming some of the most sought-after opportunities in today’s market. This sale is a perfect example of that trend,” Knops said.

“What made this property particularly compelling was the combination of nearly an acre of land, a newly built residence, and the level of privacy it offers. Homes like this are becoming increasingly desirable for buyers who want a resort-style lifestyle at home.

“This sale highlights the growing demand for luxury estate living in Davie. Buyers are increasingly drawn to properties that offer space, privacy, and modern construction while still being within close reach of Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

“My client was specifically looking for a modern estate that delivers both luxury and tranquility. This property checked every box—from the architectural design to the expansive lot size, which is something buyers are actively seeking right now.”

Meanwhile, Shepard praised the experience, adding, “We couldn’t have asked for a better real estate agent. From start to finish, he was professional, responsive, and truly had our best interests at heart. He navigated every detail with confidence and made what could have been a stressful process feel smooth and organized.

“His knowledge of the market, attention to detail, and ability to communicate clearly gave us a lot of confidence in every decision we made. Most importantly, we always felt like a priority—not just another transaction. If you’re looking for someone who is sharp, trustworthy, and genuinely committed to getting the job done right, he’s your guy. We’re incredibly grateful for everything he did for our family.”
