The Cincinnati Bengals will obviously attack certain positions in NFL free agency when the market opens next week.

Most of the focus zeroes in on the defense, where help at linebacker is a must. They need pass-rushing help for the rotation, too, plus plenty of help for the interior of the defensive line.

But what about some lesser-known needs?

When free agency starts next week, the Bengals might surprise by going after these spots too (and if not, keep them in mind during the draft, too).

Bengals sleeper free agency need: Wide receiver

The Bengals need more from their third wideout spot. Sometimes that goes to tight end Mike Gesicki, technically speaking. But Andrei Iosivas struggled with drops last year and regressed to just 435 yards and two touchdowns. The Jermaine Burton experiment blew up in their face.

Elsewhere on the depth chart, they need Charlie Jones for special teams. Names like Mitch Tinsley have promise. But more bona fide, proven production could help the entire offense. Waiting on a former sixth-round pick to develop on the fly when a third wideout should be feasting while defenses look at Ja’Mar Chase and Tee Higgins is not going to keep working.

Possible free agent fits: Keenan Allen, Marquise Brown, Tyquan Thornton

Bengals sleeper free agency need: Tight end

Consider Gesicki a big tight end and Drew Sample a blocker only and this need being more dramatic than most realize starts to make sense. Erick All Jr. looked like a breakout player before his red-flag injury issues popped up. Noah Fant won’t be back because of his horrendous fumbles.

The Bengals can’t keep forging ahead with Tanner Hudson and Cam Grandy as key backups. A veteran who resembles All’s versatile schematic fit would be ideal.

Possible free agent fits: Isaiah Likely, David Njoku, Charlie Kolar

Bengals sleeper free agency need: Guard

Dalton Risner is back, which is great. The offensive line in the Joe Burrow era has never looked better. But depth is a problem at the guard spots. Cordell Volson and Lucas Patrick are on their way out. Jalen Rivers and Matt Lee aren’t guaranteed quality contributors if needed.

Granted, line help around the NFL is scarce right now. But spending a little more than expected for a quality veteran or a more proven former high draft pick with Burrow’s health in mind would make some sense.

Possible free agent fits: Wyatt Teller, Teven Jenkins, James Daniels
