The 2026 league year is coming up very soon. It officially begins at 1 p.m. Arizona time on March 11, with the legal negotiating period beginning on March 9 at 9 a.m. Arizona time.

The Arizona Cardinals have several roster decisions to make before then.

Leading up to the new league year, we will profile every player on the roster, go over what they did last season, what their contract status is and what they face in 2026.

Next up is defensive lineman Calais Campbell.

Calais Campbell 2025 season

Signing a one-year contract to return to the desert, Campbell started and played all 17 games in the season he turned 39. The fountain of youth still existed. He had 43 tackles (23 solo/nine for loss), 6.5 sacks and 16 quarterback hits. Campbell also blocked a field-goal attempt and extra point to increase his career total to 11 blocked kicks. He played 524 defensive snaps (46 percent) and 144 (32 percent) on special teams.

Campbell is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins on Wednesday. He was paid $5.5 million last season.

Calais Campbell offseason outlook

Disappointed by the team’s record last season, and with no announcement of retirement yet, it’s possible he could return for another season depending on his feeling of what the team could achieve with a new head coach (Mike LaFleur) and position coach (Pete Kwiatkowski). The uncertain injury status of Walter Nolen III and release of Dalvin Tomlinson might result in Campbell re-signing.
