The Philadelphia Eagles just made sure the interior of their defensive line won’t miss a step next season.

Reports on Saturday indicate the Eagles have signed a historic contract with standout defensive tackle Jordan Davis, extending his tenure with the franchise while making him the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history.

Jordan Davis secures major contract extension after massive season with the Eagles

The deal being finalized will extend Davis’ contract with the Eagles for three more years and is worth $78 million, with $65 million guaranteed. At $26 million per year, Davis will become not just the highest-paid nose tackle in league history, but also tie him for second among all active interior defensive linemen for highest annual salary.

Davis was the 13th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft for Philadelphia and was entering the final year of his rookie contract. He has started all 17 games over the past three seasons for the Eagles, as well as making 13 appearances and five starts for the franchise as a rookie. Last season, he finished with 72 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks – all of which stand as career-best marks for the star defensive lineman.
