The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly made an addition to their defensive coaching staff.

According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Jaguars are hiring Grant Morgan to be a defensive assistant.

If that name rings a bell, Morgan signed with the Jaguars after the 2022 NFL draft as an undrafted rookie. He was a linebacker and played his college ball at Arkansas, where he was an All-American.

In his brief coaching career, Morgan has spent time with Illinois at the college level and with the New York Giants in the NFL as a defensive assistant.

A defensive assistant can have an all-encompassing role, but one might guess that, given Morgan’s background, he could spend some time with the linebackers as well.

Morgan joins Anthony Campanile’s staff, which thrived on generating turnovers and was the best in football against the run. During the Jaguars eight game winning streak to end the season, the defense was one of the stingiest in football, holding opponents to under 15 points per game in that stretch of games.

Third down defense and generating more consistent pressure — that also turns to sacks — are two areas where the Jaguars’ defense can improve in 2026.
