The Chicago Bears shocked the NFL world this week by trading star wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills. While the deal is still being finalized, fans are processing the loss of one of the team’s top players. The trade sparked a range of reactions, from shock to disappointment, with quarterback Caleb Williams also weighing in on Moore’s departure.

Moore had become a key part of Chicago’s offense and a fan favorite, so the move caught many by surprise. Chicago agreed to trade Moore, along with a late-round draft pick, to Buffalo in exchange for a 2026 second-round selection.

According to Bearswire, the move was largely driven by Moore’s $28.5 million cap hit for the 2026 season. Trading him will free up roughly $16.5 million in salary cap space, providing the Bears with greater financial flexibility.

Moore confirmed the trade shortly after reports surfaced by posting a farewell message to Bears fans on social media. In an Instagram post, the veteran receiver thanked Chicago and said he and his family were proud to call it home.

“Chicago!! I wanna say appreciate all the love and support the last three years,” Moore wrote. “My family and I were proud to call this place home and this community has been unbelievable to us. We will miss you all.”

The 28-year-old wide receiver also acknowledged the relationships he built with fans and teammates during his time at Soldier Field.

“To the fans, you all embraced me with open arms from my first day here… Hopefully I made you all proud with the way I performed,” he said. “To my Bears teammates, coaches and staff, I enjoyed going to work with you every day. I’ll miss seeing you all… You all made me grateful every day to be a Chicago Bear!! I appreciate you all.

Moore wrapped up his farewell with a line that struck a chord with Bears fans: “& It’s Always F……✌🏽💫,” referencing the team’s iconic rivalry with the Green Bay Packers.

The message quickly drew reactions from fans and teammates, including Williams, who acknowledged Moore’s post in a subtle way.

The 24-year-old quarterback reposted Moore’s farewell message to his Instagram Story without adding any words or a caption. Later, Williams shared another post reflecting on their time together, uploading highlights of his on-field connection with Moore.

The post, marked with a pair of orange and blue hearts, featured clips of their biggest plays from last season. Williams had the song “End of Beginning” playing in the background.

During his time with the Bears, Moore consistently led the team in receiving. He served as both a deep threat and a reliable possession option. When Williams arrived, Moore played a key role in guiding the young quarterback as he adapted to professional football.

The duo connected for numerous explosive plays and touchdowns over the past two seasons. Their chemistry gave Chicago a dynamic passing attack while the team built its young offensive core.

Following the trade that ended their on-field partnership, Williams used his Story to salute Moore. It also highlighted the mutual respect and partnership they shared in Chicago’s offense. Even after leaving, Moore’s contributions and his connection with Williams remain a notable part of Chicago’s recent seasons.
