New York Giants rookie edge rusher Abdul Carter was left heartbroken after learning of a fatal ATV crash involving his former Penn State teammate, Julian Fleming, over the weekend.

Fleming, 24, suffered serious injuries while his 23-year-old girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd, was killed in the accident.

Fleming and Boyd were riding the ATV along a rural road in Bradford County, Pennsylvania near the New York border when they collided with a deer. Boyd died at the scene after suffering “extensive injuries” and Fleming was rushed to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.

“Neither of the occupants were wearing safety equipment,” Pennsylvania State Police said in their report. “The operator of the ATV sustained serious injuries and was transported to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. The passenger sustained extensive injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A recently deceased deer was located on scene consistent with damage observed on the ATV.”

The crash remains under investigation.

Carter, who was selected third overall by the Giants in the 2025 NFL draft, and Fleming were teammates at PSU for one season after the wide receiver transferred from Ohio State.

Fleming went undrafted but signed a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers, which was later rescinded after a failed physical.
