Let’s take a look at what’s gone down for each team.
Birmingham Stallions | OG Zack Johnson
And just like that – he’s back. Zack Johnson, who earned All-UFL honors with the Birmingham Stallions in 2024, has re-signed. Johnson has spent the last couple of years in the NFL with the Lions, Browns, and 49ers, but now makes his way back to the UFL.
Zack is a big pickup for A.J. McCarron and this offensive line. With Steven Gonzalez retiring, Birmingham could use some extra depth (and starting caliber potential) at guard. Johnson joins a room that is loaded, but with his veteran experience, he’s got the tangibles to fit right into Tyler Siskey’s offense.
RB Jalen White, Signed
RB Nate McCrary, Released
The Gamblers made an unexpected move at running back. Nate McCrary, who was one of the UFL’s most consistent rushers with the Michigan Panthers a year ago, has been released. McCrary came into the UFL this year as someone with strong potential to be an RB1 in Houston, given his background.
In his place is Jalen White, a record setter. White spent his college career at Georgia Southern, rushing for 3,016 yards and 36 touchdowns – setting school records. He’s a two time Third-Team All-Sun Belt selection, having put up 13 scores in his senior season alone, proving that he’s a scoring threat.

Jalen is a “workhorse” runner. He might not break off a ton of big yardage plays, but he’s got the tangibles to wear down a defense, and a nose for the end zone. Jalen was with the Green Bay Packers this past preseason.
RB Jashaun Corbin, Signed
DT T.J. Smith, Signed
Jashaun Corbin needs little introduction. He was an All-UFL back a year ago, leading the league in rushing yards (514). Jashaun is an explosive, vertical threat at RB, who can get by just about anyone in open field. Corbin did not report to camp with Orlando for personal reasons, but now re-joins the team, having been protected back in January.
Said before the game that someone was going to have to step up for the @XFLBrahmas, with Anthony McFarland inactive.
How about Jashaun Corbin? He’s been absolutely incredible tonight. 57 yard TD gets San Antonio right back in it. #UFLpic.twitter.com/fpM3GlnMID

On the defensive side of the ball, the Storm have signed DT T.J. Smith – an NFL veteran with plenty of experience. Smith was an UDFA with the Chargers back in 2020, and had a productive stint with the Vikings following that, with 11 tackles to his name. T.J. has since been on and off of a few other NFL rosters.
T.J. played his college ball at Arkansas, totaling 76 tackles, 12 TFL’s, and five sacks. He started all 12 games played as a senior.
Roster Losses
DE Lorenzo Mauldin IV, Louisville: Mauldin announced his retirement late last week, stepping away from football. The CFL’s former Defensive Player of the Year – and former UofL standout – was poised to be a key contributor to the Kings’ defensive line.
LB Daniel Morrison, St. Louis: Morrison was a small school prospect who joined the Battlehawks, out of Wingate University. Evidently, St. Louis is strong enough at the linebacker position with who they already have, releasing Morrison on Saturday.
